JOB DESCRIPTION FOR : REGULATORY AFFAIRS MANAGER

Reporting to : Head Of NPD, Scientific and Regulatory Affairs

Role

The Regulatory Affairs manager plans and drives the strategy to ensure a conductive and appropriate regulatory environment in which the company can maintain its brand integrity.

The Regulatory Affairs manager develops initiatives to engage the company's key identified regulatory stakeholders. This is to monitor and anticipate developments with regards to regulations affecting the company and the industry in general.

The Regulatory Affairs manager maintains an up to date knowledge of the Malaysia Food regulations and ensures that the involved parties are aware of changes and new regulations. He/she updates him/herself on regulatory changes to function heads. He/she ensures product labelling adheres to Malaysia's food regulations.

The Regulatory Affairs manager identifies key government departments and individuals as he/she will be having regular meetings with Ministry representatives, maintaining and updating files on each Ministry and the profiles of the key individuals involved. He/she facilitates these meetings into good working relationships.

The Regulatory Affairs manager ensures that he/she is up to date with the latest industry issues and activities of other parties, namely competitors. This is achieved through regular attendance of meetings with the senior management.

The Regulatory Affairs manager develops and maintains the strategies needed to deliver business
requirements for Regulatory and Government relations initiatives.

With the aid of Corporate Communication, he/she ensures regulatory issues are communicated company-wide to achieve alignment and compliance. He/she is responsible for the annual presentation to senior management team and functions as required by the most current strategy, while tracking the activities of relevant NGOs and other interest groups.

QUALIFICATIONS
A technical degree which allows full understanding of the implication of regulations and the science that applies

A thorough understanding of the socio-economic and political environment of the country that impacts development of government policies which in turn, affects the industry the company operates in

Negotiation and presentation skills

A good understanding of government processes and an understanding of NGO activities and networks.
