The SEA Purchasing Organization with purchasing teams located in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesian manages an annual spend of about Euro 35 million. A significant amount is dedicated to raw material purchasing covering resin, pigments, solvents and additives and hence, the purchasing activities are driven by the lab requirements. The organization is now focusing on beefing up technical competencies and knowledge in order to attain significant results in quality, sourcing and performance management. Head of Purchasing, South East Asia

Reporting to the Head of Purchasing, Asia based in Shanghai and the CEO for SEA, you will lead the South East Asia purchasing processes and operations and drive regional initiatives and activities that maximize cost benefits and quality. You will be part of the management team, and you will align purchasing strategies regionally, with focus on building a high level of expertise in technical purchasing based on the core raw materials, comprising of resin, pigment, solvents and additives. You will lead and develop the technical competencies in the buying teams, essential to the purchasing goals and methodologies. You will develop and enhance relationships with suppliers and drive development of suppliers that will provide greater advantage to the organization. You will be a change agent, in beefing up the operations and mindset of people, towards becoming a profitable organization through managing projects on innovation of practices and technologies and cascading global purchasing cost reduction program.
You would have at least 5 years of managerial experience with strong technical service or laboratory background, in the industrial paint or ink industry. Experience in the chemical industry with understanding of resins, pigments and solvents for use in inks, coatings, paints, UV, solvent based, water-based and oil or polymer, are essential to be successful in this role. You would have had significant involvement in the purchasing process of the business and have brought about major improvements in important aspects of purchasing and sales. You possess strong commercial mindset and analytical skills.You would have coached and developed a highly motivated team who are committed to the function, with strong integrity and personal values. You would have strong interpersonal and communication skills, drive to achieve synergies through relationships and result-oriented in all pursuits. This position would be ideally based in Johore and could also be based in Shah Alam with frequent travels to the plant in Johore.
